The organization was established in 1969 by two European immigrants, Joseph Hamin and Eric Erb, who purchased a modest business being run out of a two-car garage in Maple Shade, NJ. They named the company H-E Tool & Manufacturing Company. The businesses mainstay at that time, was producing broadcast antennas for the RCA Corporation in Camden, NJ.
By 1980 the business had outgrown the garage, so they moved to a larger 6,000 square foot facility just a few miles away. Expansion and diversification continued as their list of capabilities continued to grow along with their their equipment, inventory, employees and client base. Once again, the company needed to move to a larger location.
In 2000 the company purchased and moved into the current facility, a 43,000 square foot, climate controlled, building located on Industrial Highway in Cinnaminson, NJ. Over the years Eric Erb retired and in 2006 Joe Hamin passed away. After 40 years, the family owned business was acquired in July 2009 by SEA BOX, Inc., a very successful company specializing in the design modification and manufacture of ISO containers for commercial and military applications. The name was then changed to "The Inventors Shop." Jim Brennan Jr., President and Owner of SEA BOX, stated that "this was an excellent opportunity that could add efficiency and flexibility to their manufacturing operation."
In May 2012, Jim purchased another established machine manufacturing company, Atkins Tool Co. The company's employees and additional equipment gave The Inventors Shop access to new markets such as: Medical, Textile, Agricultural and Powder Metal Processing. This expansion has broadened our manufacturing capabilities and increased our depth of experience in order to help meet the high level of service our customers have come to expect. This gives us over 100 years of combined experience.
